Joining the Order

In accordance with the ancient traditions of the Temple and the Statutes in force, admission to the Order takes place solely on the basis of a written petition.

A candidate must be at least 18 years of age, sincerely profess the Christian Faith, and possess the integrity, virtues and manners of a true Christian. All those admitted serve a compulsory probationary period (of at least three months).

The petition is addressed to the Regional Magistracy of OSMTH and must include a curriculum vitae setting out in detail the following:

  • Personal particulars: Full name (surname, given names), exact date and place of birth, names of parents, marital status (if married — name of spouse, date and place of marriage), address of residence and confession of faith.
  • Professional and life path: Profession, name of the educational institution completed, occupation of yourself and your immediate relatives. A detailed life story (childhood, youth, interests and interests).
  • Merits and works: Any scholarly or literary works, publications, and distinctions, awards or orders held.
  • Motivation: Clearly stated reasons for wishing to join the Order, and a compulsory essay (of at least one page) on the theme: “What the Order is, and who I see myself as within it.”

At the end of the petition the place where it is drawn up, the current date and the applicant’s personal signature must be given. Familiarity with the Statutes and the undertaking to observe them strictly are mandatory conditions for consideration of the candidature by the Chapter.

Note: Official photographs (4×6 cm, evening dress or uniform) will be required later, at the Chapter stage and in preparation for investiture. They need not be attached when the petition is first submitted.

First contact with the Regional Magistracy is through the official contact form.
