Oh Vera
Each person, in order to fulfill his destiny on earth and receive eternal salvation, must, firstly, know the true God and correctly believe in Him, that is, have true faith, and secondly, live according to this faith, that is, love God and people and do good deeds. All of us, Orthodox Christians, are obliged to carry the Creed as a banner, a standard from which we cannot deviate even one iota. Every Orthodox Christian is required to know the Creed.
The Orthodox Creed (the “I Believe” prayer) reads like this:
God communicates His revelation to people in two ways: natural and supernatural.
Natural revelation: when God reveals Himself in the usual natural way, to every person, through the world (nature) we see and through our conscience, which is, as it were, the voice of God in us, telling us what is good and what is bad, as well as through the history of all mankind. By losing faith in God, humanity dooms itself to destruction.
Supernatural Revelation: When God reveals Himself directly, by Himself or through angels. The first heralds of the revelation of God were: Adam, Noah, Moses and other prophets and righteous people. This Divine revelation now spreads among people and is preserved in the true, holy Orthodox Church in two ways: through Holy Tradition and Holy Scripture.
To believe in God means to be firmly convinced that God exists, he cares about us, and to wholeheartedly accept His divine revelation that He revealed about Himself and about the salvation of people by the incarnate Son of God, our Lord Jesus Christ.
For our faith to be alive and valid, it is necessary to confess it.
